Delete IFC, RVT, NWD Properties
Strip the metadata attached to your elements — remove whole property groups or expand a group to delete just the individual parameters you pick.
Besides IFC, this tool takes Revit (.rvt) and Navisworks (.nwd) files, with no Revit or Navisworks licence. Drop one in and it is converted to IFC first, then the tool runs on that IFC; your original file is not changed.
Delete property sets from an IFC model — whole groups, or just the individual parameters you pick inside a group. Upload the model, choose what to strip, and download a file that no longer carries the data.
Most models accumulate data that shouldn't leave the office. Cost codes and rates. Programme dates. Internal review notes and "DO NOT USE" flags in a comments field. Supplier pricing that came in with a manufacturer's family. Sending that to a client, a contractor or a public planning portal is a disclosure you can't take back — and hiding the properties in a view doesn't remove them from the file, it only stops your own tool displaying them.
When to reach for it: Before sharing a model with someone who shouldn't see your cost data, schedules, internal notes, or any other metadata. Also useful when you want to shrink the file and don't need the data any more.
What you get: The same model with the selected properties stripped. Geometry is untouched.
Example: Strip a single 'UnitCost' parameter from Pset_Quantities, or delete entire cost and schedule property sets before sending a model to an external consultant.
Whole sets, or single parameters
Two granularities, because the two problems are different. Deleting a whole property set removes every parameter in it from every element — the right move for a cost or programme set that has no business being in an outgoing model at all.
Deleting individual parameters keeps the set and everything else in it, and removes only the names you list. That's what you want when the set is legitimate but one field in it isn't: strip UnitCost from Pset_Quantities and the quantities still go out, or drop an internal reviewer's comment from a common pset without losing the fire rating stored beside it.
Removal is real, not a view filter
The properties are deleted from the IFC data itself, so what leaves your hands doesn't contain them — not in a hidden pset, not in a filtered-out view, not recoverable by opening the file in a different viewer. Download the result and check it with Get IFC File Info or Extract IFC Data if you want the confirmation in front of you before the model goes anywhere.
Because the change is destructive, run it on a copy and keep the original — the tool always writes a new output file rather than modifying your upload, and your source model stays in your workspace as its own version. Pair it with Anonymize IFC when the concern is authorship and personal data (author names, organisation, application and machine identifiers) rather than element properties.
Make it part of the hand-off, not a thing you remember
A pre-send strip that depends on someone remembering it eventually gets forgotten on the revision that matters. Save the removal as a step in a pipeline — strip the cost sets, anonymise, then export — and run the whole sequence on every outgoing model, or attach it to a saved setup so the same rules apply to every revision of the same project without being re-entered.
Using it on Revit and Navisworks files
When you open a .rvt or a .nwd file here, BIMCamel converts it to IFC on the server and brings you back to this tool with the converted model loaded. Element ids, levels and properties come across under their Revit and Navisworks names, so pick properties as they appear in your model. Your .rvt or .nwd itself is never edited: a tool that changes the model gives you an IFC back.
Revit files can be up to 25 MB without an account, 100 MB with a free one and 200 MB on a paid plan. Navisworks files can be up to 25 MB without an account, 100 MB with a free one and 200 MB on a paid plan, and they open in the browser viewer at the same sizes. Revit projects saved in Revit 2021 to 2027 are supported.
How to delete IFC properties before sharing a model
- Upload your model (IFC, RVT or NWD)
- Either remove ALL properties, or pick specific property groups by name
- Click Run to strip the data
- Download the stripped file
Under the hood
BIMCamel parses IFC files in the browser using the open-source web-ifc engine and renders models with @thatopen/components + three.js. Heavy operations (clean / optimise / validate / convert) run on disposable server-side workers using the same web-ifc stack plus our own .NET pipeline; results stream back to your browser as soon as they're ready. Uploads sit on our servers only as long as your tier's retention window allows and are never used to train AI.
Frequently asked questions
How do I remove cost data from an IFC before sending it out?
Upload the model, select the cost property sets (or just the individual cost parameters inside a shared set), and run. The properties are deleted from the IFC itself, so the file you download and send no longer contains them.
Can I delete one parameter without deleting the whole property set?
Yes. Expand a property set and pick the individual parameters to drop — the set and every other parameter in it survive. Use it when the set is legitimate but one field in it shouldn't be shared.
Is the data really gone, or just hidden?
Really gone. The properties are removed from the IFC data, not filtered out of a view. Someone opening the downloaded file in any other tool won't find them. You can verify with Get IFC File Info or by exporting the model's data to Excel.
Does this change my original file?
No. The run writes a new output file; your uploaded model stays as it was, and in a workspace it remains available as its own version. Keep the original — property deletion cannot be undone from the output alone.
What about author names and software details?
Those aren't element properties — they live in the file header and the ownership history. Use Anonymize IFC to clear author, organisation, application and machine identifiers, and run both tools when a model needs to leave with neither internal data nor internal fingerprints.
Which IFC versions are supported?
IFC2x3 and IFC4 — the two schema versions exported by essentially every AEC authoring application. IFC4x3, the infrastructure schema, works too: it opens in the viewer, and validation, health reports, property-set editing and georeferencing all run on it. Tools that need geometry processing, such as clash detection and 3D export, aren't verified on IFC4x3 yet.
What's the maximum IFC file size?
Up to 25 MB as a guest, 100 MB with a free account, 500 MB on Pro, and 1 GB on Team. The caps are on upload size only — every tool itself is available on every tier.
What happens to my file after processing?
Your file is uploaded over HTTPS and processed on our servers. Guest uploads are stream-only — the working files are deleted as soon as your download finishes. Free accounts keep results for 7 days; Pro and Team keep saved models until you delete them. Files are never shared with third parties or used to train AI.
Is Delete IFC Properties free?
Yes. Delete IFC Properties is free to use — guests get 3 runs a day with 25 MB uploads, and a free account raises that to 10 runs a day with 100 MB uploads. No trial clock, no watermarks.
Can I use a Revit or Navisworks file with Delete IFC, RVT, NWD Properties?
Yes. Open a .rvt or .nwd file and it is converted to IFC first; the tool then runs on that IFC and your original file is not changed.
