Clean the IFC before it leaves the office.
Delete classes you don't want to send, strip cost or schedule psets before a model leaves the office, purge the orphans a bulk delete left behind, and repair duplicate GUIDs, broken links and a misplaced origin. Free, in the browser, and your original file is never touched.
Every model carries things that were fine internally and are a problem the moment it leaves the building.
- Remove: By IFC class, by pset, by selection
- Repair: GUIDs · origins · orphans · xrefs
- Privacy: Strip cost and schedule data before sharing
- Safety: Output is a new IFC; the source is untouched
Start here — Deep Clean IFC, RVT, NWD Model
Delete leaves a mess. Deep Clean finds it. Deleting elements in an authoring tool rarely deletes everything they referenced — shapes, placements, property sets and relationships stay behind, invisible in the viewer and very present in the file. Deep Clean walks the model from the project root and removes everything nothing else reaches, which is both a size win and the reason a downstream tool stops complaining.
- Walks from IfcProject and drops the unreachable
- Orphaned shapes, placements, psets and relationships
- Read the model, write a new one — nothing edited in place

What this set does
Before it leaves the office
Strip cost, schedule, internal notes or any pset by name. Anonymise the model when the recipient shouldn't know who authored what.
Repair, not just remove
Duplicate GlobalIds, a 12 km coordinate offset, external references pointing at a drive nobody can reach — the classic authoring wounds, fixed.
Only what you name
Delete by IFC class, by selection or by property expression. Rebar out, annotations out, 2D helper layers out; everything else exactly as it was.
Tools in this category
- Delete IFC, RVT, NWD Elements — Pick entire categories of elements (doors, windows, rebar…) or specific items and remove them from the model.
- Delete IFC, RVT, NWD Properties — Strip the metadata attached to your elements — remove whole property groups or expand a group to delete just the individual parameters you pick.
- Anonymize IFC, RVT, NWD — Scrub authors, organizations, contacts and file provenance so the model is safe to share.
- Deep Clean IFC, RVT, NWD Model — Find and remove hidden leftovers that bloat your file — unused geometry, orphaned relationships, and data nothing else references.
- IFC, RVT, NWD Repair Center — One-stop tool that bundles GUID repair, coordinate fix, orphan purge, and broken-xref cleanup.
- Clean IFC Drawing Layers — Remove 2D helper lines (centrelines, footprints, construction marks) that aren't needed for 3D viewing.
- Remove IFC, RVT, NWD Materials & Colours — Strip the material and colour information from every element — keep the shapes, drop the paint.
- Fix Broken IFC External Links — Remove references to external files that your model no longer needs — gets rid of the 'missing file' popups when someone else opens your IFC.
- Keep Only Physical IFC, RVT Elements — Keep walls, floors, columns, rebar, and MEP — remove spaces, zones, annotations, grids, proxies, and other non-physical objects.
How it works
- Drop the IFC. The original stays where it is — every tool here writes a new file.
- Pick the fix. Delete, Deep Clean, Repair GUIDs, Fix Coordinates, Strip Psets, Clean Drawing Layers.
- Ship the clean one. Download it — or chain the steps into a pipeline for the next revision.
When you'd use it
The model that leaves the office
It goes to a client, a contractor or a tender list, and it currently contains your cost plan in a property set.
The 12 km offset
A federated file lands with its origin somewhere in the next county and a few thousand orphaned elements for company.
Handover prep
FM wants the asset model, not the rebar, the annotations and the 2D helper lines that came along with it.
Where it stops
- Cleanup writes a new IFC. On Free and above the previous version stays in workspace history, so a bad call is recoverable — but the tools don't undo in place.
- Stripping properties is exact, not clever: it removes the psets you name. It can't infer that a differently-named pset also holds cost data.
- Repairing a duplicate GlobalId issues a new one. Anything downstream that keyed on the old id needs re-linking.
FAQ
Can I undo a cleanup?
Cleanup tools always produce a new IFC — your original file is untouched. Pro and Team accounts keep both versions in workspace history so you can roll back at any time.
What's the difference between Delete and Deep Clean?
Delete removes the elements you pick (specific classes or selections). Deep Clean walks the whole model from the project root and removes anything unreachable — orphans, unused geometry, broken relationships — that nothing else references.
Do cleanup tools preserve property sets?
Yes by default. The Strip Properties / Delete Properties tools are opt-in and let you choose specific psets or strip everything.
Can I run a cleanup on every file in a folder?
Yes. The Automate tab lets you chain cleanup steps into a pipeline and rerun it on any new file in one click — clean, validate, optimise, export.
Do these tools take Revit and Navisworks files?
Most of them do. A Revit (.rvt) or Navisworks (.nwd) file is converted to IFC when you open it, then the tool runs on that IFC; your original file is not changed. Revit and Navisworks: Delete IFC, RVT, NWD Elements; Delete IFC, RVT, NWD Properties; Anonymize IFC, RVT, NWD; Deep Clean IFC, RVT, NWD Model; IFC, RVT, NWD Repair Center; Remove IFC, RVT, NWD Materials & Colours. Revit only: Keep Only Physical IFC, RVT Elements. IFC files only for now, because they need IFC data the conversion doesn't carry yet: Clean IFC Drawing Layers.
