Free Navisworks tools: open and convert NWD files, and plug-ins for Navisworks
Every BIMCamel tool that works with Navisworks, on one page. Open an NWD in the browser, turn it into IFC online, export IFC from inside Navisworks, script Navisworks with nodes, and set up clash tests.
The online tools need no Navisworks licence and nothing installed. The two plug-ins run inside Navisworks and are free to download.

- Convert Navisworks NWD to IFC (Online · No Navisworks needed) — Upload an NWD and download an IFC. Properties, materials and the model hierarchy come across, and you don't need Navisworks installed. Convert an NWD. How it works.
- Open an NWD file online (Online · IFC, RVT, NWD viewer) — Drop an NWD on the viewer and look inside the federation: its selection tree, properties and colours. It is converted to IFC first, then opens by itself. Open the viewer. How it works.
- Navisworks to IFC exporter (Navisworks plug-in · 2024–2027) — Export NWD, NWF and NWC files to IFC 2x3 or IFC 4 from inside Navisworks, with a reusable category mapping. Free and open source. Get the plug-in. Read the docs.
- CamelGraph (Navisworks plug-in · 2024–2026) — Visual programming inside Navisworks. Wire 589 nodes to search a federation, colour it, build selection sets, triage clashes and round-trip BCF 2.1. Free for personal use. Get CamelGraph. Browse the nodes.
- Online Clash Matrix Maker (Online · Clash test setup) — Set up which groups are tested against which in one grid, then export the clash tests as XML laid out like Navisworks' own, or as Excel. Importing that XML into Navisworks hasn't been tried yet. Build a clash matrix.
- IFC clash detection (Online · Imports Clash Detective tests) — Run hard clash, clearance and duplicate checks on IFC models in the browser. Existing Navisworks Clash Detective tests import as XML, so you don't rebuild them. Run a clash check.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Navisworks to use these tools?
Not for the online ones. Converting an NWD to IFC, opening it in the viewer, the clash matrix and clash detection all run in the browser. The IFC exporter and CamelGraph are plug-ins, so they run inside your own Navisworks.
Which Navisworks files can I open online?
NWD files. An NWF only points at other files and an NWC is a cache, so save the model as an NWD first, or export IFC from Navisworks with the free exporter plug-in, which also reads NWF and NWC.
Are the Navisworks tools free?
Yes. The online tools work on the free plan, with conversions counting against your daily allowance. The exporter is free and open source, and CamelGraph is free for personal use.
Is BIMCamel made by Autodesk?
No. BIMCamel is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Autodesk. Navisworks is a trademark of Autodesk, Inc., and the name is used only to say which files and programs these tools work with.
